Duplex Steel
Supplier & Stockist

Duplex stainless steel combines high mechanical strength with excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and chloride attack. These materials are widely used in offshore, chemical processing and marine engineering applications.

Duplex Stainless Steel for Industrial Applications

Duplex stainless steel is a family of corrosion-resistant alloys that combine austenitic and ferritic microstructures. This dual-phase structure provides higher strength than conventional stainless steels while maintaining strong resistance to corrosion and stress cracking.

These materials are widely used in industries where both mechanical performance and corrosion resistance are critical. Duplex steels are commonly specified in offshore platforms, desalination plants, chemical processing systems and marine engineering equipment.

Why Duplex Steel is Preferred

High Strength

Duplex stainless steels typically provide nearly double the yield strength of standard austenitic stainless steels. This allows engineers to design lighter structures while maintaining structural integrity under demanding operating conditions.

Superior Corrosion Resistance

The alloy composition of duplex stainless steel improves resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking, particularly in chloride-rich environments such as seawater and industrial process fluids.

Cost Efficiency in Large Projects

Due to higher strength, duplex steel components can often be designed with thinner wall thicknesses compared to conventional stainless steels. This reduces overall material weight and project costs in large industrial installations.

Duplex Steel Grades Available

S31803

Standard duplex stainless steel grade offering excellent strength and corrosion resistance for offshore, chemical and marine environments.

S32205

Improved duplex grade with optimized alloy composition providing enhanced corrosion resistance and mechanical performance in demanding industrial applications.

S31803 vs S32205 – Basic Selection Guidance

Both S31803 and S32205 belong to the duplex stainless steel family and share similar corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. However, S32205 typically contains tighter chemical composition control, ensuring improved performance in aggressive industrial environments.

In many modern specifications, S32205 is often selected as the preferred grade for new projects where enhanced corrosion resistance and long service life are required.
